Santa Marķa and the surrounding area were the Costa Rican“s civil war fighting grounds. Santa Marķa“s Central Park has a few monuments to the fallen soldiers. And, a few minutes away, in the town of La Lucha, you can see the house of Costa Rica“s most famous president, Pepe Figurres.
